Family Session With Amanda

Family photo sessions are both important and valuable to families. They capture the joy shared between the family members and demonstrates the strong bond they all share with each-other.

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with Amanda and her family for an upcoming family photoshoot. Her sister Kayla purchased a gift certificate from me for a complimentary session and passed it forward to Amanda as a Christmas gift. How sweet does that sound? It was such a nice way to make sure her family had special family photos with their daughter so they can cherish them forever

Upon meeting Amanda, we were both excited to finally meeting each other and plan the ultimate family photo session. We sent each other inspiration, posing and outfit ideas, and time slots to schedule the session. Amanda was delighted with my responsiveness to all her concerns and needs to ensure this day was going to sail as smooth as possible! She received my style guide to help portray a bright and beautiful experience that displays the love she has for her family.

When deciding which location was best, I decided on the Orange County Arboretum. Amanda and her family were new to the Hudson Valley region, so they were looking for a place that was local, vibrant, and ideal for tagging the family along! I couldn’t recommend a better place. Between all of the gardens, pretty flowers, long scenic trails, and all beautiful things that come with nature, what’s not the love?

During the session, the family and I tried several different posing techniques. Between classic formal portraits, to the off-guard candids, and especially to the silly playful shots, together Amanda’s family and I created a seamless gallery with tons of variety! Not only did they love the park we chose to shoot at, they loved the whole experience working together and were very pleased with the final results.  Upon ending the session, we wrapped up the gallery by introducing some maternity shots with the family in celebration of welcoming a new life into this world.

I’m so honored to have had this opportunity working with such a wonderful and beautiful family. It’s times like this that remind me why I love being a photographer and why I believe that photography has the power to bring couples and families closer together. It was a pleasure working with Amanda’s family from start to finish. A huge thank you goes to Kayla, Amanda’s sister, for help making this all happen. We couldn’t have done this without you!
